Consumables are kindly supplied by EMAS – we have to buy Defibrillators, replacement pads, batteries for the defib, kit bags, BP machines, Temperature gauges and other bits and pieces like our tops and jackets – this is why we need donations as its the expensive bits of the kit we need to buy!
Typically responders carry the following equipment:
- Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
- Oxygen, trauma masks and bag-valve-mask
- Sphygmomanometer (Blood pressure monitor)
- Suction unit
- Temperature monitoring
- Variety of bandages and dressings
- Burns dressings
All the above kit is carried in a single bag and weighs approx 15kg!
Responders are also issued with PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) including sterile gloves, coveralls, and high visibility jackets.
